University of Minnesota Inventory & Framework
Currently we are compiling an inventory of all the natural resource-based parks and trails in the state. We are mapping natural resource-based trails and parks that are on the ground, planned, and proposed, and identifying facility gaps and opportunities. As a part of the inventory process we are also analyzing park and trail user studies and trends in recreation to identify needed facilities, underserved populations, overused facilities, etc.
This inventory will be used to make a framework that details the opportunities to enhance and strengthen natural resource-based parks and trails in Minnesota and to link the pieces together to make a more coherent network of parks and trails across the state. The framework will inform future planning and funding of parks and trails.
