A little bit about myself (:

Hello everyone! My name is Molly Messner and I am currently a Junior at public school Harry D. Jacobs High School located in Algonquin, Illinois. I partake in my schools Service-Learning program; Jacobs Safety Initiative, Project Ignition; a program designated to advocate teen safe driving, Public Relations on my Student Council's Executive Board, NHS, and Varsity swim team. I am a member of the National Youth Leadership Council's (NYLC) Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and on the Research and Communications Committee. Within YAC, I have been exposed to the ongoing dilemma of the Achievement Gap crisis and education reform. In the past, I have been involved with the education reform policy Engaged Education Now, a program promoting the incorporation of Service-Learning into classrooms nationwide. Through my experiences as a student having been immersed in the public school system for a number of years, I am eager to voice my opinion on nation-wide education. With this online initiative, I believe we can collaborate our ideas and opinions therefore, making us one step closer to narrowing the Achievement Gap.

Hi Molly, would you like to complete your last sentence of the Week 7 discussion? You wrote: "A well-known concept is that student in inner-city schools may not perform as well as kids in" If you do, I'll post it. Thank you!

Molly -- I'm really curious about your response on the "variations" question Joe poses, given your insights about interactions with teachers and peers.

Molly, did you apply to be a leader? Just checking in... We might have it here, but I'm not seeing it off the bat.
