How to Use CitiZing
How to view, use and edit your profile.
1) Sign on to CitiZing.
2) Click the "me" option at the top of the page in the blue banner.
3) Your profile information is displayed. To change any of it, click the "edit profile" tab on the right and follow the prompts.
4) All of the projects that you're a member of will be displayed under the "projects" section. Use these links as a quick way to access projects, particularly those that are private and don't display on the project list page.
5) Click on the "mailbox" tab on the right to display your direct, private messages.
6) Use your corkboard to post notes for others to see, and click into your friends' profiles and leave notes on their corkboards too.
7) Use your blogging space to post a lengthy message for others to see. Moderators will be reading these and may choose some to feature, so make it good!
8) Find people you know - or someone new and interesting! - and become their friend on CitiZing by clicking the "befriend John" option under the name of ther person. Accept or ignore friend requests of you by clicking the appropriate button on your profile page.
How to join & access a project
1) Sign on to CitiZing.
2) For public projects, find the project on the CitiZing project list page OR for private or hidden projects, access it via a direct link that you received from a project administrator.
3) Click the "join project" button in the top right corner of the project. For private projects, click the "request to join project" button. Your request will be reviewed and accepted or denied by the project administrator.
4) You can now participate in the project. The project will show up on yoru profile page under the "projects" list on the left side.
How to view and particpate in project activities
1) Sign on to CitiZing.
2) Find the project in which you'd like to participate. If you're not yet a project member, join the project.
3) Click into the activity (survey, discussion thread, etc.) that you'd like to view or participate in. Activities are viewable from the "Activities" tab. Tip: check the "show recent activity" box at the top of the section to see the latest activities in each category.
4) For surveys, questions will appear. Answer the questions and click "submit" at the bottom of the survey form. If you've already taken the survey, clicking into it will display your answers.
For discussions, the most recent activity is displayed at the top of the threads. Type your response in the box next to your profile picture and click "submit." Or, if you'd just like to sit in on the discussion, you can scroll through and read comments without participating directly.
For wikis, click into the document, which will allow you to view the most recent version. Click the "edit" button to make changes. Make sure to use the text editing features (bold, hyperlink, etc.) within CitiZing as you make changes. Click "save" to save and upload your changes.
