Robert Epstein's Bio

One of America's most distinguished research psychologists, Dr. Robert Epstein is the author of the award winning book, The Case Against Adolescence, praised by renowned therapist Albert Ellis as "one of the most revolutionary books I have ever read," by best-selling author Deepak Chopra as "rigorous and persuasive," and by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as "a must read." In this book Dr. Epstein shows (a) that the turmoil experienced by American teens is entirely the creation of our culture - the result of infantilizing young people and isolating them from the adult world - and (b) that teens are as competent or more competent than most adults across a wide range of abilities.

Dr. Epstein has taught at the University of California San Diego, the California School of Professional Psychology, and other universities and is the former editor-in-chief of Psychology Today magazine. He is also the founder and Director Emeritus of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies in Massachusetts. A Ph.D. of Harvard University, he has published 15 books and nearly 200 articles, and he has developed competency tests in the areas of parenting, adolescence, creativity, motivation, stress management and relationships. He is also the proud father of four children and two stepchildren.
